SCORE! SUMMER THEATER WORKSHOP NOW ENROLLING
Scholarships available with support from PNC Bank
The Embassy Theatre is pleased to announce open enrollment for its summer SCORE! 2019 program for middle-school students, including multiple scholarship opportunities.
In its seventh year, the three-week devised musical theater workshop immerses students in all elements of theater. Devised theater is a term used to describe a mode of theater-making that does not begin with a script. Instead, students create a script through the process of thematic and artistic exploration.
The scholarships, made possible by PNC Bank, will allow up to four students to enroll in the workshop with full tuition covered. Students who have completed grades 6, 7 or 8 and who have not previously participated in SCORE! are encouraged to apply for either a need-based or a talent-based scholarship. PNC Bank has supported educational programming at the Embassy Theater since 2015.
“Engagement in the arts enriches the lives of audiences of all ages and builds stronger, more vibrant communities,” said Corinna Ladd, PNC regional president for northern Indiana. “This unique workshop is one of many educational opportunities offered by the Embassy Theatre and showcases student appetite for a vibrant role in the arts and drama.”
In addition, The Links organization is providing full and partial scholarship opportunities. Information on all scholarships are available on the Embassy Theatre’s website.
The SCORE! 2019 workshop will take place July 8-28. During the three weeks, the students will incorporate play writing, drama, music, production and technical arts, culminating with a performance on the legendary Embassy stage.
Up to 25 students can enroll in the SCORE! program. Early registration tuition is $450 until May 1. Starting May 2, regular tuition is $550. Deadline for registration is June 7 or until capacity is reached.
