ABOUT THE FILM: “The General” was released in February 1927 and is one of the most revered comedies of the silent era. A hapless Southern railroad engineer Johnny Gray (Buster Keaton) faces off against Union soldiers during the American Civil War. When his fiancée, Annabelle Lee (Marion Mack), is accidentally taken away while on a train stolen by Northern forces, Gray pursues the soldiers, using various modes of transportation in comic action scenes that highlight Keaton’s boundless wit and dexterity.
ABOUT THE ORGANIST: Cletus Goens is the Embassy House organist. By day, a piano specialist at Sweetwater Sound, and by night the house organist of the Embassy. Cletus Goens has been entertaining crowds for three decades and continues to delight on the Grande Page pipe organ. Cletus is often responsible for introducing new fans to the magic of the organ for the first time, showing off the Grand Page’s charm and abilities to many.
