Summit City Vocal Classic Takes Place August 8

Fort Wayne, Ind. (July 22, 2020) – Summit City Music Theatre and the Embassy Theatre present the
Summit City Vocal Classic on Saturday, August 8. High schoolers grades 10 to graduating seniors will
experience this educational opportunity to compete and sing on stage at the Embassy. Judges from
three different universities will offer valuable feedback through master classes. This event will feature
a finals concert in the evening. All rounds of competition are open to the public with a ticket.

Students will prepare two pieces to be performed from memory on the Embassy stage. Both pieces
should be from the musical theater or classical canon. Only one piece will be performed in the
preliminary round of competition. If selected as a finalist, both pieces will be performed. Scholarship
money and prizes will be awarded.

“Summit City Music Theatre is acutely and personally aware of the effects the recent health crisis
have had on the arts community,” says Mindy Cox, co-founder/music director, Summit City Music
Theatre. “What pains us most is the thought of all of the performing arts students who have been
heartbroken. Months of work on show choir performances were cut short. The energy and anticipation
of presenting the spring musical turned sour when it was canceled weeks or days before opening. We
understand the disappointment and sadness of these difficult cancelations and are trying to offer a
creative outlet.”

The preliminary round of competition will begin at 9 a.m. The final round will be presented as a
concert at 7:30 p.m. Social distancing and other health precautions will be enforced per the current
policies at the Embassy.

The entry fee is $50 and will include the accompanist, master class, a t-shirt and photograph of the
student on stage at the Embassy Theatre.

Competitors can complete their registration here: A link
is provided at the bottom of the form to pay for registration and tickets.

In addition, tickets are available via the Embassy website or the STAR Bank box office at
260.424.5665. Tickets are $15 for the preliminary round, $15 for the finals concert, or $20 for the full
day of competition.

All events at the Embassy Theatre have limited capacity. The Embassy has thorough protocols and
staff training in place to reduce exposure to COVID-19. Please expect social distancing, face
coverings on our staff and vendors, one-way traffic patterns, paperless and touchless interactions
whenever possible and rigorous cleaning and sanitizing. We encourage guests to wear their own face
coverings and to stay home if they are not feeling well. While the Embassy works hard to reduce
exposure to COVID-19, the public is assuming the inherent risk of possible exposure.
