Event is 5 – 9 p.m. (music begins at 6 p.m.), in the Yergens Rogers Foundation Ballroom, with access to the Parkview Health Rooftop Patio (weather permitting). Local food vendor, cash bar and concessions also available.
Drummer Sonny Carreño, guitarist Danny Dean and saxophonist Sam Que met in 2013 on a recording project for an album of original hymns called Walk in Peace. They realized they shared an interest in jazz and began performing together in Goshen and Elkhart right away. Bassist Randy Horst was added to the lineup in 2014. Word has spread about the quartet, and they’ve earned spots at the Elkhart Jazz Festival for four straight years, performed for WNIT’s Experience Michiana and the local talent series at Merriman’s Playhouse in South Bend, hosted WVPE’s Fernwood Friday in Niles, and played countless other public and private shows over these eight years. Repertoire is midcentury jazz standards with an irreverent edge, along with a few modern pieces.
