Complexions Contemporary Ballet coming to the Embassy Theatre in May
Fort Wayne, Ind. (Mar. 7, 2022) – The Embassy Theatre is happy to announce that Complexions Contemporary Ballet will bring its performance of “WOKE” and “Love Rocks” to the Embassy Theatre on Wednesday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. Two master classes will be held on May 2 and 3 at 6 p.m. These events are co-presented by the Embassy Theatre and the Fort Wayne Dance Collective.
Led by dance icons Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, Complexions Contemporary Ballet has awakened audiences to a new, exciting genre with their singular approach of reinventing dance through a groundbreaking mix of methods, styles, and cultures. With gifted dancers and powerful choreography, Complexions represents one of the most recognized, diverse, inclusive, and respected performing arts brands in the world.
“Every spring since 1989, FWDC has brought professional dance companies to Fort Wayne to inspire, educate, entertain, and enhance the community. Master Classes
The master classes will be taught by company members of the Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Classes will include a center floor warmup followed by movement/choreography from the company’s world-renowned repertoire.

Performance on May 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Featured first in the program is “WOKE,” a physical reaction to the daily news. This is a bold and dynamic socially conscious one act ballet featuring the full company that examines our humanity in conjunction with today’s political climate. This piece features music by Kendrick Lamar that includes explicit lyrics that have been edited. Closing the evening is “Love Rocks,” a fun and thrilling piece set to the music of Grammy Award-winning Lenny Kravitz.
