April 3, 2024
Show Time: 7:00 pm
Designed to be an evening of melody promoting unity, “Back to The Mountaintop”, commemorates the final speech of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr at Mason Temple Church of God in Christ in Memphis, TN the night before he was tragically assassinated. The event centers around a recitation of the speech by Rev. Bill McGill, known nationally for the ability to channel the intensity and integrity of Dr. King’s words. Using music as a tool that not only brings us pleasure but brings us together, the event involves 2 gospel music icons with notable careers. The feature artist is Pastor Smokie Norful, a 2 time Grammy winner, and his special guest will be Karen Clark-Sheard, a 4 time Grammy winner and recipient just recently of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award with her sisters “The Clark Sisters.” She also holds the distinction of serving as the 1st Lady of the Church of God In Christ, International – the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world with 6.5 million members. Rev. McGill hopes the event stirs a fresh wind of community solidarity.
