It has been said, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” And, so it is with music.
For local singer/songwriter, Shelly Dixon, things are getting back to good. For her, the pandemic led to the day the music died, in a way. She shares, “Being immune compromised, I took myself out of anything public, and I’m just now navigating myself safely back in. My last performance was also at the Embassy Theatre for Down the Line 2020. I’ve been fortunate to be part of the Midwest and Fort Wayne music scene for over two decades. As the Shelly Dixon Band, we released our album, “Drive,” in 2001 with some songs getting radio and tv play. Through the years and the changes, I’ve played hundreds of venues. I’m blessed by being invited to be part of the Summer Nights lineup! For me, it’s an incredible welcome back after my extensive quarantine. My goals in this (revival of sorts) include working with some of the many different talented local musicians and trying some fresh music I’ve added to my set list. Music is a big part of the heart of our city. I truly love to share in it. We all felt its void when everything was shut down. It is with a higher regard for the privilege of entertainment that I look forward to seeing everyone getting out and safely supporting local music and the many venues who host it. And I look forward to seeing where my own path leads.”
