SCORE! 2022 Founders Award Winner

Fort Wayne, Ind. (August 2, 2022) – The Embassy Theatre is pleased to announce that Franki Starkey of North Side High School was awarded the 2022 SCORE! Founders Award on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Leave the Lights On, the production that was created by this year’s SCORE! participants. Franki demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and was selfless in interactions and collaborations with her peers.

In its tenth year, this two-week (July 11 – 22) devised musical theater workshop immersed middle school students in all elements of theater culminating in the public performance on the Embassy stage on July 23. Participants engaged in playwriting, composition, movement, drama, music, visual arts, and technical arts with the facilitation of industry professionals. The 2022 workshop attracted 16 diverse participants in grades 6, 7 and 8.

SCORE! was introduced to the educational programming at the Embassy Theatre in 2012-2013. The original founders of this program were Sue Caudill, Matthew Reeder, Rebecca Reeder and Chris Riley. In honor of their deep commitment to creating SCORE!, the Embassy is proud to honor one student each year with the Founders Award. Criteria for this award are based on leadership, teamwork and selflessness. The recipient was voted on by the mentors of SCORE!, which is made up of individuals from both the Embassy Theatre and Fort Wayne Youtheatre.

The winner in 2021 was Megan Schwartz who was an 8th grader at Blackhawk Christian. Last year was the first time the award was presented in honor of the Founders.
